Attendance Counts!

We at UpRiver want all of our students to be successful in learning and in life!

OUR GOAL

Our school goal is to reduce chronic absenteeism (students who have missed 10% or more school days)  to no more than 15% of our students this school year.

To reach our goal we have:

¨ Worked to make coming to school fun and fulfilling for all students.

¨ Increased our communication with you.

¨ Partnered with amazing local businesses to implement individual and class-wide incentives.

¨ Implemented recognition for good attendance habits.

DID YOU KNOW?

¨ Missing 10%, about 2 days each month, can make it harder for your child to:

                         Gain reading and math skills

                         Build relationships

                         Develop good attendance habits

¨ Students can even fall behind if they miss one or two days every few weeks.

¨ Missing school can affect the learning of the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down and help children who were absent catch up.

¨ Regular attendance at school can help your student feel better about school and themselves!

¨ By 6th grade, absenteeism is one of the three signs that a student may drop out of high school.

¨ Regular attendance habits are important skills for success in high school, college, and the workplace.
